Product Description

3406 PDC flat cutter for PDC drilling bit PDC drill bit insert

Synthetic diamond composite material:
PDC is composed of polycrystalline diamond layer and cemented carbide substrate. It is a kind of super-abrasive product sintered under super-high pressure and at high temperature. With excellent wear-ability and impact toughness, this very hard product is mainly used for making roller cone bits for petroleum drilling and tools for coalmine drilling and geological drilling.

Now two kinds of PDC are available: PDC for petroleum drilling & PDC for mining. The shape of the interface can be flat or non-flat. The range of thickness of the polycrystalline diamond layer is from 0.8mm to 3mm. PDC can be cut to different shapes according to specific requirements.

Technological Advantages

The new cutter technology has been completely updated based on several factors:

  • The diamond powder is selected in a higher degree.
  • Use a new type of tungsten carbide which improved the strength character of bonding.
  • The claws of the interface are changed to net-grooves-shaped formed by 20 straight vertical grooves.
  • Improved interior structure of the sintering cell for uniform pressure and temperature.
  • Use new super heat-resistant metal to avoid contamination during sintering.
  • Improved bonding strength of the diamond-diamond key among the diamond layer.
  • Increase the content of diamond, with thickness up to 2.0mm.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: What materials are PDC cutters made of? A: PDC is composed of a polycrystalline diamond layer and a cemented carbide substrate, sintered under extreme high pressure and temperature.
Q2: What are the primary applications for these cutters? A: They are mainly used for roller cone bits in oilfield drilling, as well as tools for coal mining and geological exploration.
Q3: What is the typical thickness of the diamond layer? A: The polycrystalline diamond layer range is typically from 0.8mm to 3.0mm, with advanced models offering up to 2.0mm consistent thickness.
Q4: Are there different shapes of PDC available? A: Yes, we provide both flat and non-flat interface shapes, and cutters can be customized into various shapes based on customer requirements.
Q5: What makes the new technology cutters better than previous versions? A: Improvements include higher-grade diamond powder, optimized tungsten carbide for bonding, and advanced sintering processes for better heat resistance and strength.
Q6: What is the production capacity for these inserts? A: The production capacity is approximately 10,000 pieces per month, ensuring a steady supply for large-scale drilling projects.
